National Weather Service Pueblo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our location from 5:00pm today through 11:00am on Tuesday.

Winter weather highlights, including a Winter Storm Watch and Blizzard Watch have been issued for Monday evening into Tuesday morning for portions of our county (El Paso). However, right now, UCCS is NOT included in these areas.

Red Flag Warning issued 11a-8p today for increased fire danger due to forecast strong winds and low humidity. Use extra caution with potential ignition sources outdoors, including disposal of smoking materials in appropriate containers.

Report smoke and flames quickly by calling 911, or 719-255-3111 if the conditions exist on campus.

Earlier this evening a TEST MESSAGE was sent out via UCCSAlerts which was intended as an internal monthly test only.  The alert posted to the UCCS homepage, as well as Emergency Management and Police social media accounts.  The test message was NOT sent out to the entire campus via email and text message.

Despite the body of the message, ALL CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES FOR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2015 ARE ON AS SCHEDULED.

We want to assure our campus community we take emergency notifications very seriously, and this is why we conduct monthly tests in what is normally a controlled environment.  Unfortunately this evening we identified gaps in the training environment, and will make corrections to prevent the issue from occurring in the future.

5:48pm – The Tornado Watch for El Paso county, including #UCCS, has been cancelled.

The Tornado Warning to our north was allowed to expire, now a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued until 4:45pm.

Stay weather aware tuned into local media for the latest warning information.

Tornado Warning issued until 4:15p for north central El Paso County and parts of Colorado Springs. Be prepared to seek shelter if needed, we are monitoring and will send an alert if there is imminent threat to campus.

A Tornado Watch has been issued until 11:00pm MDT, include Colorado Springs and our UCCS campus. In addition to an isolated tornado, large hail and damaging winds are possible. Stay tuned to local media, stay weather aware, and ensure you have a way to receive alerts.
