- I am already signed up to receive alerts from E2Campus, what is UCCSAlerts?
Beginning the end of October 2014, UCCS changed the vendor we use for emergency notifications via text, email, and voice alerts, and the result is UCCSAlerts. The process has changed a bit, but the goal to provide campus timely and accurate information remains the same. The full changeover will occur by the end of October. Each user should click the Alerts Sign Up tab at the top of this site, log in appropriately, and ensure your contact phone numbers and emails are correct in order to continue receiving emergency notifications.
- Who can register for UCCSAlerts?
All active UCCS student, staff, and faculty, and affiliates are either automatically registered or are invited to register for emergency notifications. Active email addresses (@uccs.edu) are automatically registered to receive email alerts. Students MUST use their MyUCCS Portal to register their mobile phone number for text alerts, but may register non-UCCS email addresses, and parent/spouse/additional cell numbers using the Alerts Sign Up tab at the top of this page. Faculty, staff, or UCCS affiliates with a username can register to receive text alerts by visiting the Alerts Sign Up tab at the top of this page.
- How often will I receive text alerts?
UCCSAlerts, as an emergency notification, will be issued upon confirmation of an ongoing significant emergency or dangerous situation that poses an imminent threat to the health and safety of the campus community, which could include natural disasters, severe weather, explosions or bomb threats, or other imminent dangers affecting our campus. Additionally, UCCSAlerts will be used to communicate the operating status of the campus in terms of closures due to winter weather and other causes.
- How will I identify incoming messages are from UCCSAlerts?
Text notifications will come from one of two short code numbers, either 67283 or 22678, we recommend users list these numbers in their contacts as “UCCSAlerts” to help more easily identify them.
Voice calls will come from 719.255.3111, again we recommend entering “UCCSAlerts”, “UCCS Police” as the contact for this number.
Email messages will be from UCCSAlerts (firstname.lastname@example.org).
- Does it matter who my mobile phone provider is?
The emergency notification system supports all U.S. mobile carriers.
- What if I change my phone number or carrier?
Students who change their phone number should update their information via their MyUCCS portal by going to uccs.edu/students –> Click on MyUCCS Portal –> Students –> Records & Registration –> Access Student Self-Service –> Personal Information –> Use the drop down menu to access Select Phone Numbers –> enter your updated mobile phone number. RAVE Mobile Solutions should update your carrier information, but we encourage your to confirm your carrier by logging into the authorized and secure Rave Mobile Safety portal,rave.uccs.edu, ONLY confirming or changing your carrier information (not your phone number)
Staff, faculty, and affiliates to UCCS should update their phone number via the authorized and secure Rave Mobile Safety portal at rave.uccs.edu.
- Will my contact information be shared with third parties?
Your email address(es) and phone number(s) will only be provided to our UCCSAlerts vendor, RAVE Wireless, who protect the data.
- Can I register to receive alerts if I am located on campus but not a student, staff, or faculty?
Only UCCS community members with a valid uccs.edu email address can register. Other campus affiliates such as parents with children enrolled at the Family Development Center, campus contractors, and visiting professors or researchers may register for the period of time they are on campus. Such exceptions should be coordinated with Emergency Management at 255.3106 or 255.3288.
- What is my username for the registration web site?
Students can access their registration information via their MyUCCS Portal by going to uccs.edu/students –> Click on MyUCCS Portal –> Students –> Records & Registration –> Access Student Self-Service –> Personal Information –> Use the drop down menu to access Select Phone Numbers –> enter your mobile phone number.
Staff, faculty, and affiliates with UCCS will use their standard username and password to access the authorized and secure registration site.
- How do I unsubscribe from UCCSAlerts?
If you wish to opt out of receiving text alerts (which we highly discourage):
Students who wish to opt out of text alerts can check the “opt out” box during class registration in their portal, or contact Emergency Management at 255.3106, or via email at email@example.com, to submit their request.
Staff and faculty can opt out via the authorized and secure Rave Mobile Safety portal at rave.uccs.edu, using the university username and password, and removing their phone number(s) from the appropriate fields.
Any user can opt out of the text alerts by texting the word STOP to 67283 or 226787 from their mobile device once registered.
The university is dedicated to sharing timely emergency notifications with all of the campus community, and therefore users will receive alerts via their uccs.edu email addresses regardless of opting out of the text alerts.
